Nexen Petroleum plans an active drilling program at its Appomattox discovery in Mississippi Canyon block 391 and 392. The company noted that the find has the potential to be amongst the best discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico.
Appomattox is the third discovery in the area following early discoveries at Shiloh and Vicksburg. Nexen has a 25% interest in Vicksburg and a 20% interest in Appomattox and Shiloh. Shell Offshore Inc. operates all three discoveries.
